Games in the quest genre are very popular lately. And among the many modern games, Stray stands out. As the developer is Blue Twelve Studio, which has earlier collaborated with Ubisoft, and that is saying something.
At the moment, the development of this studio can be found on a variety of platforms. But again now we are talking about Stray, which was released this summer for PC and consoles.
The game’s location moves the player into the atmosphere of the fortress city of Kowloon, and the game character is a ginger cat. The dynamics and behaviour clearly mirror that of a real cat. The game is based on the Unreal Engine 4 engine, which supports numerous modern 3D features. That is, it is possible to make a game that runs on any platform with no problems.
The game is about a stray cat who is transported to a world where humans previously existed. This ruined city used to be their sanctuary, but since then, robots have appeared that reek of humanity. The job of the little cat is to get back to his family, but before he does he has to find them. And it all starts on the tube, where there are other cats.
The game character is a cat that lived with one of the developers. And in the future, this pet was the basis for the creation of a new game project. And eventually the public saw Stray.
After a bad move, the character flies into an abyss and finds himself in an underground city. On the way you have to help a small drone in loading the AI. In return the drone promises to help return to the surface. It really does become an indispensable helper and helps to translate inscriptions or crack doors. Of course, there are other characters in the game who also want to go to the surface, so there will be new acquaintances and helpers.
The main threat are the mutant Zurkas, which were developed by a corporation. They serve humans and devour rubbish, but without human control the mutants have begun to evolve and have gone organic. So even a cat can fall prey to a mutant. But this also applies to the robots who have remained in the city, while the Zurkas live mostly in the sewers. But they’re also found in the Corporation building, where they were developed.
Even considering that the game is very kind and simple in its quests, all such mutants can get in the way a lot. Especially when the whole herd is running after the cat. But the chase process looks very interesting and dynamic. But it’s good that there are light weapons in the game that help to revive and restore justice.
Overall, the game has a lot of interesting details and quests, and in fact, even people in their 30s stay excited about this development.
As for the technical parameters, it should be noted that the game does not support ray tracing, nor does Nvidia DLSS, AMD FSR technology. But there is a possibility that this will change after the release of patches. And in that case it will be possible to judge about ray tracing in more detail, but at the moment it’s like that. But the player himself can adjust the graphics depending on the power of his gaming device. Of course, the worse it is, the less fine detail there is.
